With all the big names of Tennis travelling to USA for the second biggest grand slam title US OPEN 2013.We would all like to see a no repeat of WIMBLEDON.I am talking about the shocking exits of players like Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer & Maria Sharapova in 1st & 2nd rounds respectively.US OPEN started with the buzz that Andy Murray is the strongest contender for this year's trophy.Whereas Roger Federer was neglected to be among the favourites.But, 17 grand-slam winner Roger Federer Said "That he is still a threat to the other players" & one should never doubt the capabilities of Fedex.
Day 1 of the US OPEN 2013 started with few big names starting their journey to win this title names like Venus & Serena Williams, Rafael Nadal, Ana Ivanovic, Fernando Verdasco etc.Venus Williams, returned to court after a gap & cruised to victory over Kirsten Flipkens in straight sets 6-1,6-2.This victory has helped Venus to shut out the retirement talks after she announced in 2011 that she was being slowed by chronic autoimmune disease.But, the victory didn't came as easily as the score suggests, Flipkens showed some resistance in the 2nd set, but fell victim to the experience of Venus.Meanwhile, the younger william sister & the defending champion proved why she is still the best in the game by winning her game in just an hour.She defeated the ITALIAN Francesca Schiavone in straight sets 6-0,6-1.While in the men's category, Rafael Nadal made a thumping return to the states with an enthrolling victory over the American Wildcard Entry Ryan Harrison, as he demolished him with straight 3 sets victory with the scores of 6-4,6-2,6-2.Nadal looked better than ever, he said "For getting a chance to play here again is great".As he had to fight with a knee problem to get back to the court & start his roaring & showed his intentions to make up for the lost time
