With few big names winning their matches comprehensively in the Round 1, Day 2 saw some more of the big names battling out for their place in the 2nd round.Names like Rafael Nadal, Ana Ivanovic, Venus & Serena Williams, Li Na have already qualified to the 2nd round.With big names like Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Caroline Wozniacki & Victoria Azarenka playing & winning their matches on Day 2, we can see all the big names coming into the flavour of game.The Swiss, Roger Federer cruised to victory over 62 ranked Grega Zemlja, finishing off with 6-3,6-2,7-5.Holding the lowest career ranking #7 in more than a decade & coming off with a shockingly early exit from Wimbledon.He insists that his passion for Tennis is still there & that passion was shown by him in his victory over Zemlja.
While World number 2, Novak Djokovic lit up the competition with his dazzling combination of power & precision to beat Ricardas Berakins 6-1,6-2,6-2.The world number 1 was not in a hurry but still managed to finish the game in an hour without any sweat on a very humid New York night.He took his first step towards what can be a straight fourth appearance in the final.After her defeat in the finals of the US OPEN's previous edition, Victoria Azarenka made a thumping return to the Arthur Ashe Stadium by demolishing Germany's Dinah Pfizenmaier 6-0,6-0 in under an hour.The victory proved that she is the best contender to win this title.Personally, I want Azarenka to win this time.
Former World Number 1, Caroline Wozniacki survived a really tough competition to go into the 2nd round.She had to dig deep to win the macth agaisnt the Chinese Duan Yingyring 6-2,7-5.She cruised in the first set by winning it in just 35 minutes but, got a bit of rough deal in the second set.After the victory she said, "Its not about being pretty, It's about getting the job done".Well, to my knowledge Caroline is pretty, not just pretty, but beautifull & also got the job done..Way To Go, Caroline..!! :D
