After winning The Ashes, England were looking confident but the confidence was seen sinking in the 2nd ODI against Australia at the Old Trafford. England skipper, Eoin Morgan won the toss & elected to field first & started superbly as Aussies lost their first wicket on 0. But, then Aaron Finch & Shane Watson took the innings smoothly ahead, on 116, aussies were 3 down. Australia made 315 for 7 after losing the toss, Michael Clarke scored a super 105, sharing a 155 run partnership with George Bailey, who scored 82.
England's start was a sloppy one, they were 38 for 3, despite some heroic efforts from Kevin Pietersen who made 60 & Jos Buttler who made 75 as England were dismissed for 227 with 6 overs to spare. Australia made their highest ODI total against England in England, surpassing their 302 for 6 at Nottingham in 2009. England who rested their top players like James Anderson, Stuart Broad & Graem Swann ahead of the return series "Down Under" starting in November. Aussies are 1-0 up in the ODI series with this victory, as 1st ODI in Leeds was washed out. Aussies would be looking to continue this show for the rest of the series.
The series continues at Edgbaston on Wednesday.
