Day 3 of US OPEN saw this year's Wimbledon Champion Andy Murray fighting out for a win in the 2nd round.Defending champion was plunged into a nightmare on Wednesday as rain lashed at the US OPEN.Third seed Murray played 48hrs after the 2nd seed Rafael Nadal, seen to be the favourite to win this title this year had started his campaign on Monday.Even, number 7 seeded Roger Federer & Novak Djokovic started their campain confidentely & they thrashed their opponents in their respective matches.Murray defeated Michael Llodra in just 98 minutes with a scoreline of 6-2,6-4,6-3.
The Indian contingent in the competition would be really happy as Somedev Devvarman survived his 1st round match against Slovakia's Lukas Lacho with a scoreline 4-6,6-1,6-2,4-6,6-4.The marathon man survives the first test & i wish All the Best to the youngster.
As we saw in Wimbledon, we saw really big upsets in the starting rounds of the competition.We didn't see such upsets in this edition but on Wednesday, a shocker came with the exit of Venus Williams after the super-successfull 1st roud match the elder william sister lost to Chinese Zheng Jie in the 2nd round.Zheng Jie called her victory "Unbelievable" after beating Venus with scoreline of 6-3,2-6,7-6(5).James Blake announced that hea would retire after this edition of US OPEN but he didn't thought that it would be this soon. The American Tennis Star, lost to Ino Karlovic in fifth set tie breaker.Karlovic closed this encounter with victory in 3 hrs 24 mins with his 38th ace of the match.Blake was a sensation in Tennis winning straight 11 straight first round matches at Flushing Meadows after losing in his debut in 1999.
With all the big names starting thier competition on a high note... we move to 2nd & 3rd round of the US OPEN of men's & women's singles.Lets hope that all the big guns fire & give us matches which are a treat to watch..!!Till then keep coming here daily for more sports news.. :)
